INCREASED DUTY ON LIQUOR. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association, Melbourne, Aug. 11. Mr. Hughes stated that the shipbuilding scheme was hung up indefinitely. In the House of Representatives the Minister for Customs announced increases in the import duty of 3s a gallon on spirits and a similar excise duty. The beer excise duty uvas increased a penny per gallon. It was estimated that the revenue from these sources would be £ GOO; 000, which would cover the losa of revenue caused Iby the prohibition qI luxuries. SUMMARY OF CASUALTIES. Received Aug. 12, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Aug. 12. The official summary of the casualty lists shows 105,888 out of action, of which 29,125 are dead, 43,279 wounded, 3023 missing and 2392 prisoners.
