RALLYING THE TROOPS.

RUSSIAN POPULATION HEARTENED.

The latest advices from the front have greatly heartened the population, confirming the satisfactory rallying of the troops in the various sectors. Despito General Korniloff's request they remain, issuing bulletins, claiming credit for everything favorable, aud enjoying handsome emoluments. A wirelesp Russian official message says: In the region of the confluence of the Zbrucz with the Dneiater we captured tho villages of Barycbkovey and [,Mygoda and tho heights westward. We repulsed attacks northward of the Sereth. The enemy occupied two heights westward of Dzeimkne and southward of Sotchi. We retired eastward on both sides of the Kimpolung road. The enemy, pressed us back northward of Bisigestchi.

RUSSIAN TOWNS ABANDONED BITTER FIGHTING ON EGSSOKOUMANIAN FRONT.

I Petrograii, Aug. 8. j The Novce Vremya states that tho Russians have evacuated the towns of Kamanets-Podol&ky and tProskuroff. London, Aug. 8. A German official report says: Tho Austro-Hungarians stormed and occupied several summits on the wooded Carpathians. "We extended our successes northward of Focaani. There is bitter fighting on the Russo-Roumanian front, but enemy counter-attacks have proved futile'.

BIG GERMAN FORCE.

ON HUSSIAN FRONT. Londori, Aug. 8. One hundred and thirty-seven AustroiGerman divisions, 24 brigades of infantry and the whole Austro-German cavalry are now fighting on the Rusao-Roumani-an front.
