A STRANGE CHARGE.

IMPROPERLY INTERFERING WITH A DEAD BODY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, August 2. At Roxburgh to-day J. M'Dowall "and F. Tamblyn pleaded guilty to a charge of improperly interfering with a dead body. The evidence showed that a body was placed on pedestals near the high altar in the Catholic Church on Monday night, and the accused removed it to the other end of the church, placing it on the floor. Entrance was effected through a vestry window. Statements made by the accused siiowcd that the body was removed for a lark. Both were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed in £IOO and a surety of £SO each, on condition that they reported daily to the police.
