PATRIOTIC WORK.
Mrs. Burgess has received '£l 3* iid from Miss eßnnett's counter donation box for the upkeep of the Soldiers' Club, and wishes to thank all contributors to this worthy object. A gift of gramaphone records from Mr. T.'P. Donnelly, High street, Hawera, is also gratefully acknowledged. There has been a very generous response to the appeal for small tins to pack sugar and sweets for soldiers' parcels at the patriotic rooms. Mr«. Burgess 'wishes to thank the children and all H;ind donors for their gifts, and to remind Eoldiers' friends that the Christ.mas packing will be in full swing this month, when gifts of cakes, sweots, etc., accompanied by cards or post cards views, will be much appreciated. Do not forget that the soldiers' Christmas will be spent in the cold and wet of midwinter, instead of summer with its bright sunshine, and' many attractions such as beach picnics and races, etc.
