During July there were 23 births, 5 marriages and 3 deaths. There will be a sitting of the S.M. Court here to-morrow at 1.30 p.m. The young players in the Town Band are making very good progtess, and in conversation with Conductor Goodwin Ford lie tells me there is some promising material amongst the youths. Perhaps the A. and P. Association and the Racing Club will remember the band when making arrangements for next summer. The band will assist in the open-air war anniversary demonstration at the Post Office on Saturday evening. The weather continues anvthing but favorable for the workiiig bee at the Showgrounds this afternoon.
Was it luck? YV'o find two days during July on which no rain fell.
Lieut. C. Gray, at one time stationed at Stratford, is at present in Taranaki on Defence matters. He was in Stratford to-dav, and old friends will be pleased to learn that ho is keeping very fit. His duties take him all over the Dominion, but despite the rain and slush he likes Taranaki, and is very pleased that circumstances allowed him to come this way again.
