WEBB'S RECEPTION'. By Telegraph.—.Press Association. Christehurch, July 31. Mr. P. C. \\ ebb had an enthusiastic reception from the Trades and Labor Council last night. He said that for his efforts, which had averted a great coal strike, ho had been rewarded with three mouths' imprisonment. lie paid a tribute to the police anil gaol officials, but condemned the prison regulations, especially the dm'k cell, anil criticised the quality and quantity of the food. On his return to Parliament ho would have something to say about the Second Division. The chairman announced that £IBSO had been collected of the £2OOO requirell for the dependents of the men in gaol for sedition. MILLERS WAXT TO~KEEP UP •PRICES. Dunedin, Yesterday. In response to enquiries by the Govcrnment as to whether they want further stocks of Australian wheat, the Dunedin millers replied that owing to the importation of Australian flour into the Xortli Island, business has declined, so they cannot accept, any more wheat, Meanwhile, the millers also say thev are not prepared to pay the price asked by the Government, as they cannot produce (lour at a loss. The millers have communicated with the Government with the object of having the import duty on Australian flour increased, so as to stop importation while the Government is distributing the wheat purchased by the Minister.
