A WHrcXT'A'NURA SALE. Mr. B. T. Bennett, of Patea. held his first sale of dairy stock on Tuesday, when he disposed of tho whole of Mr. John Shield's dairy herd under the hammer at' Whenuakura. The sale, which 'was well attended, was a pronounced success, first-class prices beinrealised. Mr. Bennett proving an excellent auctioneer. The average price realised for cows was £l3 9s 3d, whilst heifers averaged £0 8s 2d. Farm implements and Bundrios also fetched top prices. Mr. Bennett is to be congratulated on the success of his maiden effort as a stock auctioneer.

LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. On July 24, at Stratford, store cows made £5 12s to £9 7s, 2- to 2A-year steers (rough) £lO Bs, 20-month steers £8 ss, 2-year empty heifers £5 19s 6d to £fi 10s, weaner heifers (small) 52s to 71s and 04s for good, weaner steers (small) 33s to ft4s for good, in calf heifers (small and backward) £5 IBs, ewes in lamb 30s, cows (small and late calvers) £8 15s to £lO, good dairy sorts £ll to £l3 17s 6d, springing heifers £lO 15s to £l2 12s Oil, calved heifers £8 2s 6d to £lO 10s, heifer donated by Mr. W. H. Paynter, East Road, to the Patriotic Funds £7 1-H.
