POLITICAL NOTES.

(Parliamentary Reporter.) Mr. Okey (Taranaki) ha 3 asked the Minister in charge of the 'Board of Trade what is the present position of the butter levy—viz., whether dairy factories cease to pay the tax on all milk supplied since 30th June, 1917; and whether all subsidies on butter sold for local consumption cease from that date? Mr. Jennings (Taumarunui) has asked the Minister of Education whether, in view of the pressing need for a custodial institution being established for the confinement of low-grade feeble-minded children and adults, and those cases which are not considered suitable for mental hospitals, the Government will take the necessary steps to provide such an institution.
