THE EMPIRE.
BIG SUCCESS OiP SOW ''FROHJIAN FILM." The first of the new Frohman Co.'s film features drew a large audience to the' Empire last evening. This feature, by the popular author, Augusta Thomas, under the title of "The Witching Hour," tells a story quite as interesting as it is novel. It deals with the kee.per of a high-clas gambling establishment who is possessed of extraordinary telegraphic power by which he dominates his fellow men. He renews the acquaintance of a former sweetheart, now a widow of means, and (the old love reawakeaab 1 . Quite unexpected events occur in rapid succession and the producer has succeed- | ed in weaving a web of mystic charm based 011 telepathy. How mental suggestion, unconsciously transmitted to a receptive mind, is likely to lead to disaster is capitally shown and the onlooker is kept in a state of delightful suspense : with each fi(esh development of the story which has all the "go" and glamor so necessary to the success of a modem photodrama. Several good films are shown in support, the best of these being "Innoculating Hubby," a brilliant Cub comedy and "The World's High Roads," a dunning scenic. The same programme will be finally shown tonight.
