in his report for the month of June, the tramways engineer states that in June, 'l9lO. the traflic receipt* amounted to ,£6"x> 15s fid. and for June, 1017, £7OO lis Bd. showing an increase of £lO4 15s lid. The passengers carried have also increased by 18,731. The work of overhauling tha cars and varnishing the bodies is proceeding. Two cars have been completed and are in traffic, the third being well under way. A continued examination of the cars during the overhaul reveals no signs of undue or abnormal wear. The steel tyres ordered over twelve months ago have arrived in New Zealand and some of them liave already been delivered at the tramway sheds. The borough n fortunate in receiving these goods, at this period, as they will lie needed inside of nine months in order to keep the cars on the road and the chances of procuring same now are almost hopeless.
