(From Our Own Correspondent). The AVaiongona Social Committee (,pev Mr. L ITenwood) have banded to the secretary of the Ladies' Patriotic Committee £S to be voted to Y.M.C.A. funds. Mr. Lysons has completed the survey of the piece of land recently acquired floni Mrs, Nicholls by the Borough Council for the new gravel pit and the foreman (Mr. Branch) has the entrance to the same well under way. On Thursday last a team of golfers .journeyed to Stratford, and after a most enjoyable afternoon's play defeated the home team, winning all games»except one which was halved. On Saturday next the Red Cross Mart will be run 'by the Tnglewood ladiesi, when a special effort is to be made, and a little variety introduced. Lucky bags from 3d to Is can he purchased, also"a handsome blouse will thus be secured by some person for a trifling amount. There'was only a small attendance at the Hon. G. Fowlds' lecture on "Taxation Fallacies." The Mayor occupied the chair and introduced the speaker. The lecture was of a oiost interesting nature and was done full justice to by the Hon. gentleman and was certainly worthy of a very much larger audience The proceeds were devoted to the Y.M.C.A. fu^ds.
