The crowd behind Leonta did not benefit much by the gelding's Winter Hurdles win, but some of the diehards stuck to the veteran. Judging by Marker's form at Trcntham the King Mark breed are likely to run up a big score next season. Kauri King .was finishing on strongly on Wednesday, and the Aucklander was backed for £ s. d. when lie cantered home in the Fleet Handicap. Rajput is always knocking at the door, and punters would be wise to keep their eye upon him. Orleans was not fancied by his party when Charlie Price pushed him home in front in the Parliamentary, paying several times over the limit. Miss Satior. made a successful debut as a hurdler at Trentham, and should be heard of again. Mt. Victoria was on his worst behavious on Wednesday, and stood at the post.

Csaronus has cost his party a tidy sum since he beat a poor lot in the Hack Steeples at Wanganui, and his death would not cause many punters to put on crepe.

Raumanuwhiri and Kirkhy were heavily supported on Thursday, but neither looked like it. Waimai is billed to conteßt the V.E.C. Grand National Steeples to-day. The

Aucklander has only been on tho scene for a few days, and it is asking aim a big question to win to-day. Sir Fisher was a screaming hot order in the Winter Hurdles, but threw out at the first jump. Perhaps it is just as weli for his party, who will now get their stayer in at a nice handy weight ior future engagements, and then it will be a case of "take out" again. Undecided must have just about don» his punch, judging by his poor showing in the Selling Plate on Thursday. Petruchio, winner of the Plate, is a four-year-old by Cannie Chiel—Lady Wayward, and carried Sir George Clifford's colors.
