A heavy bombardment is proceeding before Brzezany, also on the whole line in the Dvinsk-Riga sector, preventing the Germans transferring reinforcements to Galicia. They are hurrying up Bulgarians. Eighty thousand Transylvanian Roumanians formerly in the Austro-Hungari-an army, 'but now Russian prisoners of war, have depressed a desire to join the Hungarian army. The first battalion of Roumanians has reached Jassy. The Death's Head Battalion of women lias left Petrograd for the front under Madame Bolchkarera, Admiral Skrydloff's daughter, who fought beside her husband until he 'was killed. While General BrusilolF is scoring a brilliant success at the front, the United States aid is greatly assisting the Provisional Government. America is lending Russia money at 3J per cent, to build a second line of the Siberian railway, and is giving 10,000 waggons to assist the defective Russian transport. The Provisional Government is also racing a task of overwhelming magnitude in organising sixty million voters, half of whom are illiterate, for the election of the Constituent Assembly.

Wireless Russian official:: General TcbrereisofT captured Haliez and advanced westwards. Ho reached tho left bank of the Edomniea. The Russians also advanced on the front from Bogoiodchan to Zolatvm, and took prisoner over 2000 and also 30 guns in the day's fighting. We continued pursuit in the direction of Dolina and occupied Haliez at Midday on Tuesday. Our advanced detachments crossed to the left bank of the Dneistcr ami reached the valley of the Lomnica. which was crossed, we occupying the villages of Bludniki and Rabin. We took prisoner over 10,000 in the fighting at Dolina. Since the Bth v,e have captured large numbers of heavy guns, trench mortars, and ma-chine-guns. General Sir William Robertson congratulated General Brusiloff upon the splendid results of the recent fighting. General Brusiloff replied: "AU our efforts are directed to the development of the operations already begun, with a view to a decisive victory against the common enemy." HINDENBURC ALARMED. TAKES PERSONAL CHARGE. Received July 12, 11 p.m. Rome, July 11. Advices from Berne state that at the outset of the Russian offensive Hindenburg rushed across and took personal charge of the situation in Galicia, and ordered reinforcements, which have unceasingly poured through southern Germany.
