NEW PLYMOUTH v. URENUI. The New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club paid a visit to Urcmri yesterday, and fired a match against the local club. The visitors were provided with lunch and afternoon.tea on the range, it being dispensed by the ladles. Mr. A. 11. Halcombe, president of the Urenui Club, welcomed the visitors, saying that Urenui had been looking forward for a long time to this match, as he thought that matches with town clubs did much to encourage and put new life into the country clubs. He hoped they would have more frequent visits from .the New Plymouth club than they have had in the past. Mr. F. J. Hill, on behalf of the New Plymouth Club, thanked the Urenui Club for the match that day, and also for the splendid way they had been entertained. It was not often they had the privilege of having the ladies present to dispense afternoon tea, so it was all the more appreciated. Although they had won by a few points, he could assure them that both teams would have to do very much better shooting if they wished to' hold the Taranaki Shield. Cheers were given for the winners, losers, and the ladies. Following are the scores:— NEW PLYMOUTH.
