ENTERTAINMENTS.

DRIVER, THE MAGICIAN. > The high reputation of Mr. Thomas W. Driver as a master of legerdemain, awl his fame as an exposer of the tricks of fraudulent "spiritualistic mediums," attracted a large audience to the Good Templar Hall last night, and the entertainment provided well deserved the hearty approval it received. Mr. Driver comes to us with some entirely new and ingenious illusions, while his deftness in performing time-honored feats of conluring—established favorites without which no such performance would bo. complete—has been perfected, and he imparts to them the semblance of novelly and originality. His tricks are so cleverly performed as to justify Mr. Driver's claim to take high rank in his profession. The fast part of the P ro " gramme consisted of some marvellous tricks with playing cards, as perplexing to the gentlemen who closely watched them on the stage as to the audience in the body of the hall, and equally amazing pranks "with coins, etc. The latter portion of the first part and the whole of the second part were devoted to a demonstration, that all the phenomena produced by tricksters who claim to be supernaturally assisted can be produced by perfectly natural means. The most astounding of all Mr. Driver's feats was the production of "apports," which put the climax on his evening's achievements, and left all who witnessed it in a state of even greater bewilderment than that to which they had been previously reduced. Illustrations of the force of animal magnetism as applied bv Mr. Driver, and an amusing tablerapping item completed the diversified entertainment. ~ , ~ , i A number of new rdeight-of-hand ana conjuring tricks and an exposure of spirit materialisation will be included in the change of programme announced by Mr, Driver for this evening.
