ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE NEW DANDIES. I j EMPIRE XIIEATiRE. | Mr. Edward Branscombe's latest cornpan}', "The New Dandies," who are announced to appear at "the Empire theatre next Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, are thus spoken of by the Auckland Star: "The glad welcome accorded to the New Orange Dandies indicated conclusively that the colorful company of musical comedy free-lances who piT'tice modem minstrelsy under the bar ■".■;• of the Dandies, have laid a sure ejn- I on the hearts of the. Auckland populace And the Dandies justified themselves, so that the programme nuiu[bers eventually took second place in number to the encores. The new-comers have given a slightly new and taking ing twist to the stage setting and the costumes ordinarily identified with the Dandies, and, as in the case of the performance, it merely adds a toueli of distinction to their personality while emphasising the fact that they arc a branch of the old favorite family af entertainers. In the programme itself they Provide what was, in effect, a nameless musical comedy, with all the best musical features of that entertainment and the accent on the comedy, with the result that the audience were kept in an orange glow of laughter and applause from curtain to curtain." The plan opens at Collier's this morning.
