K-nemy attempts west of Cornillet and south-east of Tahure were easily repulsed. Our artillery carried out a destructive fire on German organisations north and west of Bill 304. MORE HUN TYRANNY. ; Received July 8, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, July 6. . Antwerp has been fined a hipi.dred thousand marks for refusing to rebuild the buildings damaged by the Germans. The Mayors of Brussels and' -Boisfon have been deported to Dusseldorf for refusing to make requisitions. THE CROWN PRINCE'S DEFEAT. London, July 6. The Daily Chronicle's correspondent at French headquarters states that Tuesday's defeat of the Crown Prince's troops was the severest since the French offensive ill April. Tlw Germans attempted grand operations on a 12-mile front from' Jouy 'to Craonne. The fact that they attacked ,in the evening indicates that they Expected a rapid success, because artillery co-operation was handicapped and it could not assist in the prolonged and changing tattle. The French defended their positions obstinately and quiokly broke the shock of the assault. A hard hand-to-hand struggle followed all night with almost incredfble tenacity. Tie recovery of every yard of lost ground within twelve hours under such conditions is an unprecedented achievement. It is noteworthy that the Germans do not mention their tremendous tragic offensive; instead they falsely claim great captures westward of Cerny, where the French have not lost « single man. ENEMY (RiAIDS REPULSED. London, July 8. Sir Rouglas Haig reports that we repulsed a raid in the neighborhood of Bullecourt.
