REPUBLICAN ARMY FIGHTING. Reuter Service. 1 Received July 5, 0.35 p.m. Ban Francisco, July 4. A Chinese newspaper states titers are persistent reports in Pekin that President Li ha 9 been assassinated. Former officials of the Repufulic have sworn allegiance to the monarchy. A special message received 'by Chineso journals in New York states that the Republican army is starting on ft big northward advance. A battle is in progress in the Fukien province, the fleet assisting to quell the revolution. General Ohanj Suan is ready to fight Japan. THE PRESIDENT ESCAPES. Received July 5, 0.20 p.m. London, July 4. The Chinese President escaped and took refuge at the Japanese Legation.
