A SOLDIERS' PROTECTION LEAGUE.
To the Editor. ' Sir, —Referring to the very successful meeting recently hold in Stratfor<l forming a branch of the Second Division League it appears to many that -the Second Division League is not an ap» propriate name. Clause 2 of the objects of the league read: "To endeavor to secure by constitutional methods adequate allowances and pensions for all soldiers and their dependents." This makes it quite clear that the claims of all soldiers will receive equal consideration by the league. I would suggest that the name be changed to the "Soldiers' Protection League," ot any other name that would imply the fact "that it is not a league formed to benefit one section of the soldiers, as it appears at, present. We know that many married men ha' e volunteered and some have died. Their dependents must also share in th-2 benefits. Their wives and dependents have .possibly already suffered the hardships that the Second Division League v.ili obviate, and this league has its duty to the dependents of those soldiers who have already gone, just as it has to those who have yet to go. The league v,-i]l get the support of every decent t:\nikd man in New Zealand and it is to be earnestly hoped that it will not require to fight for ordinary just tivatv:ent.—l am, etc., J. FREDRIC. Stratford, July 2.
