The New South Wsi les revenue for the year was £20,53iU,0©0, an increase of £536,000, and the expenditure £19.553,000, an increase of £1,254,500 compared with the previous year. Adelaide, July 2. The revenue for the year was £4,809,H 9, an increase of £.>ie.la2, tut £45,G69 less than the Treasurer's estimate. Brisbane. July 2. The State revenue for the year was £11,333,604, an increase of £163,704. DARWIN BY-ELECTION. Brisbane, July 2. The Darwin .by-election resulted in the return of a Nationalist, Mr. Spence, by a majority of WSOO. LIQUOR CANDIDATES ROUTED. Sydney, July 2. The triennial municipal elections throughout the whole State resulted in the rout of the liquor candidates. Majorities were obtained in only three instances. • INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES. Sydney, July 2. It is officially stated that there were 508 industrial disputes in Australia last year. The total 'worlcing days lost were 1.(178.930, and the loss in wages was £957,0 M. At the end of 1916 the members of trades unions unemployed were 6.07, per cent, compared, with 11 per cent, at the end of 1914.
