FRENCH ARTILLERY PLAYS HAVOC. Received July 2, 10.55 p.m. London, July 2. A French communique states: In the Cerny-AilKs sector the bombardment was redoubled in intensity. Violent enemy attacks followed east of Cerny, on a 500 metre front. On both sides of the Ailles-Paissy road the oaemy occupied the line of trenches evacuated by us. Our artillery made great havoc among the enemy, who was unable to push the attack further, despite all his efforts.
