SEVERE FIGHTING CONTINUES ON THE TRENCH FRONT. London, July 1. A French communique says:—ikspite the recrudescence of the bombardment eacf, of Corny, there were only local local engagements in the sector of Cerny. The artillery ! | struggle continues intense in the region of Avocourt Wood, Hill 304, and at Mort Homme. Our fire smashed aa attack on Avocourt Redoubt. There was a lively engagement at Mort Homme around one of our advanced posts, which was lost and taikon five times, and fin- i ally abandoned by both sidej because I gun fire had completely destroyed it.
