A very enjoyable social was held in the Koru public hall on the evening of June 22. the occasion being a farewell tendered to Rifleman 0. Hansson and Private G. Watson, who were up on final leave. The night being fine and the young men well known and popular, there was an exceedingly good muster. Dancing, cards and musical items filled in the time pleasantly. During the evening Ms. Cheshire, on behalf of the settlers, presented the guests with illuminated wristlet watches. Mrs. Cheshire fastened them on, after which a very dainty supper, in fact a too dainty Bupper, was handed round, and dancing continued until the early hours. Mr. Pearson (piano) and Mr. Morris (violin) supplied very good music. Those that took part in the programme were: Mr. Tiehhon, song; Miss Cower, song; Mr. Pearson, song; Mr. Knglifield, recitation; and Mr. 0. Hansson, song.
