MATINEE'TO-DAY. ALICE JOYCE IN "THE COURAGE OF ISILBXCE." . A picture that is worth while seeing by every section of the community admiralty announces the excellence of "The Courage of Silence," the splendid feature film shown at the Empire this afternoon and to-night. This, drama, apart from the fact that it features the return of lovely Alice Joyce, is a most remarka'ble production, and the Greater Company bid tfair to reassert , old supremacy in I'Umiand. , The cast is a strong one, with Harry Morey as a mala lead, and two delightful children, Mildred and Wjllie; Johnston, Thfc story is the old one of a hopeless infatuation of a married man for a beautiful stranger, but it is treated in an altogether fre.sh and daring way, malking the drama a medium for the expression of the moat intense emotion. Ais the care-free butterfly,''with: no thought hut ;df conquest; Miss Joyce is superb. Her eyes sparkle with and she uses a hundred and one pretty tricks effectively. Then 'sorrow comes into her ISfe. She really loves the man she lias ensnared, tout finds that he is a husband and a father. The good within her iwili not allow her to wreck this she goes out of his life for ever. It is at this point that this dainty star cornea into her own, tat tlje rest of the story would spoil in the telling. This powerful photoplay will be finally screened tonight. , MONDAY. 5 On Monday night the old favorite Douglas Fairbanks will appear in his very foest comedy to date, "The Americano," a whirlwind of laughable situations in which 'lDqug." scores a 'big success.
