PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
A RECORD SALE. Yesterday, at Piakau Park, Stratford, Mr. Newton King conducted a dispersal sale of pedigree Jerseys on aticount of Mr. E. J, Kirkwood, who- is now on final leave from camp. 1 Ideal weather conditions were all in favor of a record attendance of local buyers and fanciers, but the most optimistic could not have expected the large number of breeders from the further awav districts of New Zealand. The arrangements made for the convenience of the public by Mr. Kirkwood were very complete, and lie was also the receiver of numerous compliments as to the condition in which his cattle were brought into the sale ring. The highest -price of -the day was obtained for White Stockings IV (imported), who was .purchased by Mr. R. Cornwall as agent a Melbourne buyer (Mr. C. D. Lloyd) at.2-0o guineas. The other imported cow, Susy's Gamboge, was purchased by Mr. Eugene O'Sullivan, of Stratford, at lus guineas, whilst the heifer Golden Fern's Haiti, by Fern's Oxford Noble (J.1T.1i.) out of the high-priced cow White Stockings IV, -imported in utero by Mr. E. J. Kirkwood. was secured by Mr. S. Jones, the Gisborne .Jersey breeder, ,at fCO guineas. This buyer also purchased Crimson Carnation at 102 guineas, , Lady Floria 40 guineas, Goldie's Gem (12 guineas, Pia-' kau Queen 78 guineas, of Gamboge 102 guineas, Lady Waratah 3fi guineas. The °53 lots sold, which included fte calves, averaged guineas.
