DAIRYING AND SHIPPING.
PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE. (From Our Own Correspondent). i Wellington, June 23. Representatives of the butter and cheese producers met the Board of Trade last night to discuss matters arising from the Ordera-in-Council relating to butter. The conference was continued this morning, and was then adjourned until July 19 without any definite decisions being reached. The delegates were of opinion that fuller information regarding the shipping prospects and other aspects of the dairying situation might then be available. Your correspondent gathered that the delegates irere disposed to take a serious view of the present position. They were anxious that the Government should Temedy what they regarded as grievances in connection with the butter levy and purchasing arrangements, but they realised that the very heavy accumulation of butter in store, and the approach of the new season, created a very difficult problem for holders of butter and the industry generally.
