BRUSILOFF'S APPOINTMENT. "RUSSIA'S ARMIES WILL NOT VAIL." A. and NZ Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received June 22, 1.45 a.m. London, June 21. The Press Bureau btales that General Sir \Y. Robertson telegraphed to General Brusiloff the congratulations of the Government on his receiving the supreme command, and assuring Brusilofl' of cooperation in the common task of defeating the enemies of justice and liberty. Brusilofl' replied: "My endeavors will be directed to the accomplishment of the task of co-operation with the Britishers. Russia's armies will not fail in their duty." GERMAN TRICKS EXPOSED. Petrograd, June 20. Newspapers expose the German papers' effort to demoralise the Russian army by throwing proclamations in the Russian trenches inviting peace discussions, and pointing out that Germany had always been devoted to the cause of peace. One exhortation said: ''Show the Japanese and other foreigners who are comir.auding your artillery that pure Russians alone are masters of the Russian front, and foreigners' rule must cease."
