s.m. court. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, June 21. A sitting of the S.M. Court was held here .yesterday, before Mr. W. E. Hastldcn, S.M. In tho case of Davis (Mr. Gow) v. Bates (Mr. Spratt), claim for the value of a stove, £8 10s, the evidence showed tnat Da-vis removed from a house to new premises in 1913, leaving a new stove on the premises vacated. The etovo had not then 'been put in position. Later on the premises were sold to Mrs. but, previous to the sale, had been occupied by several tenants. Jhe stove had, meanwhile, been in use and was much worn. The buyer was given to understand, that she could have the stove at her own risk. After argument by counsel, judgment was given by consent for £4. J. Scoon, builder, sued N. W. Hastings, farmer, Mangorei, for lien of £lO2 on property belonging to defendant/ The claim was made up for work done and material supplied. Plaintiff stated that Hastings approached him regarding work in demolishing Dr. Cooper's house and re-erecting a dwelling-house and school. Scoon was to supervise the work, pay his own men, and receive a stated sum per day for supervision. A second claim was for £93 for erecting a schoolhouse.
