A meeting of the committee was held on Tuesday. Present: Messrs J. W. Deem (chairman), W. H. Were, S. Pitt, F. Ranford, E. Dingle, J. W. Boon, and J. U. Richards. Members welcomed Mr. Deem. In reply, Mr. Deem expressed his pleasure at seeing the Society established on such a satisfactory footing, and believed that much good must result to farming interests generally. Mr. J. B. Richards was appointed lion, secretary, and it was arranged that Mr. A. D. Stanley's employment be authorised. Mr. Pitt was elected treasurer, and Messrs Deem, Pitt, and Richards authorised to sign cheques. Sub-committees were appointed as follows:—Stock: Messrs Pitt and Dingle. Cropping: Messrs Were and Richards. Milking is to he carried on during the coming season, and labor is to be employed on wages. Building committee to report on present buildings to next meeting. A working foreman/is to be emploved.. applicants to be married men, the salary to be £4 per week, house and mill; "free. - Appreciation was expressed successful efforts of the A. -and P. Association and Promotion Committee in establishine the model dairy farm, and a resolution to that effect was placed on r'eocrd. PRESENTATION AT MIDHIRST. This evening the Midhirst Hall will be the scene of a public welcome tendered to Private Arthur Blanchard, who was recently invalided home. He is to be presented with an address, handsomely illuminated and framed. The workmanship reflects great credit on Mr. 3. -McAllister. RACING CLUB. Soma comment <ha* been occasioned hero at the Stratford Club only having, a one day meeting. "Your Own" waited on Mr. Coleman on the matter, and elicited the information that as things went Stratford could not adopt any other course. The matter had been 'dismissed, and there was no likelihood of a two days' meeting next summer, unless circumstances altered somewhat. THAT SUBSIDY. At the County Council meeting yesterday the Stanley Road bridge and the subsidy for same, that has been hung up for some time, was again under review. Mr. H. Okey, M.P., wrote suggesting an interview with the Resident Engineer (Mr. Sharp). To-day the Council .members and officials, with Messrs Okey and Sharp; yisited the bridge and then had a conferencs on th» matter. To-night a farewell concert is 'being held at Toko, and a patriotic concert at •Strathmorc. T. LAMASON'S WEEKLY REPORT. East Saturday the usual sale was held at the Mart. Poultry was in very short supply, and there was keen demand for good lines. We quote: Cabbage 2s 6ct dozen, cauliflower 3s dozen, potatoes lj& sack, pumpkins 3s Cd to 7s 6d sack, pollard supplies very short. A large quantity of furniture and sundries at usual auction rates. Mr. C. E. James' 6ale is now in full swing, and the puMic are talcing advantage of the great values offering to purchase largely. The sale will last another nine Vlays, but those who intend to share in the big bargains offering should not hesitate to make their purchase? now; to-morrow may be too late* T. Lamason's usual sale is advertised for Saturday, when he will he offering a quantity of table potatoes, furniture, and sundries.
