HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT, The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, June 16, 1917, from the High Commissioner for. New Zealand., (Note. —Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices oil spot) : Meat.—All descriptions of frozen meat 'continue in good demand. Demand has considerably fallen off for Home-killed mutton and English lambs as a result of the hot weather checking the demand for meat. There is a fair demand for Homekilled beef, owing to scarcity of Argentine beef. New Zealand mutton, per lb, 8 7-Sd, ewe mutton SJd, Argentine mutton, small supplies, lOd. N.Z. lamb, lOd; Argentine lamb, lid; Argentine beef, no quotations, owing to short supply. Butter.—Market quiet. Danish salted, 198s td 200s; Irish creamery, salted 1843 to 188s; unsalted 190s 8d to 194s 6d; N.Z.'j salted, 189s to ,191s, unsalted 190s to 1945. Australian, salted, 180s to 184s, unsalted lS6s to , ISSs; .Argentine, no olncial quotations; no supplies available. Cheese.—Market' is very quiet, buyers waiting until cheese.under Government control has been released. Heavy supplies of inferior qualify Dutch cheese, no official quotations. Hemp—Manila hemp market remains as last reported. New Zealand hemp market continues firm, offerings are verv small, for which extreme <prices asked. Nominal quotations, New Zealand high point fair, £B9 per ton; fair £B7; common £BS; reasonably early delivery. Stocks_on iiand on June 1. 495 tons New Zealand hemp. Wheat—Market quiet but firm.
