MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
THEOLOGICAL STUDENTS' APPEALS DISMISSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Military Service Board to-day Archbishop O'Shea (Mr. M. F. O'Leary) appealed on behalf of Patrick Francis McArthy, John Alexander Higgins andr Joseph Victor Spillane, theoloogical stu-, dents at Greenmeadows. Mr. O'Leary asked the chairman whether, in view of the different rulings by the various boards, the present board; considered a minister's certificate mandatory. The chairman replied in the negative.. The Archbishop stated that there had been a dearth of students who were in the list four years of their course, and: had taken teinorary vows. In reply to the military representative, ,tlie Archbishop said those vows could beabandoned, as they were not like the final vows, hut only vows of obedience. The board dismissed the appeals, but appellants will be granted leave up to July 24.
