DISTRICT NEWS.
TARIKI. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday, tlio Jstli, the Tariki territorials and cadets held a, most successful social. The Heather was unpleasant, a i dense mist making driving on the roads anxious work, but in spite of it all the people rolled up well, and a very pleasant evening was spent. The floor was in perfect order, and well filled with dancers. Tt is very noticeable that all our boys are away at the' war, as only lads were there for partners. The evening rellects great credit on them, as they managed very well. The committee did everything, even to washing up and putting away the crockery, so the girls had a real holiday from the work, and I'm sure would enjoy it. Miss Hamerton (Inglowood) played for the dances, assisted by Mrs. Hoskin,. Misses Hogan and Lungman and Mr. MaeDonald. The latter is an old favorita. who with Mrs. MaeDonald, is paying Tariki a visit. After all expenses were paid there.wan over Hi, which was given to the Ladies' Patriotic Guild. Very little is heard of the latter, but, I understand, they are still working hard.
