FARMERS' UNION.

PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. The monthly meeting of this executive was held at Ilawera 011 Thursday last. Present—Messrs. E. Dunn (chairman), Maxwell, Lambie, Duff, Buxton, Orr, R. Hughes, E. A. Washer, Swindlehurst, J. Cleaver, (H. Hodge, 'H. Sutherland, B. Dawes, H. Pierce, F. Mills, and Buekeridge (secretary) . The secretary reported that there .was a credit balance of £35 after paying £43 in dues. SUBSCRIPTION. The recommendation from the conference that a uniform subscription of 21s he adopted, was considered. Mr. Maxwell moved that the matter be held over for decision by. the Dominion Conference.—Carried. PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. Hi was resolved that' 1000 copies of the proceedings of the conference be printed in pamphlet form. AGRICULTURAL LIME. A letter was received from Mr. F. J. Cowern, of Kawhia, stating that he had now arranged to make only one quality of lime. He had forwarded sample bags to the secretary. The secretary reported that these had just arrived, and samples would be sent to the Board of Agriculture, together with all information available. EXPORT TAX. The OtaJcelio branch wrote enclosing a motion passed by them expressing their strong disapproval of the tax. They also advised that a motion opposing an export tax had been forwarded to the executive, and also to Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P. ' , BUTTER-FAT TAX, Opunake branch forwarded a resolution passed urging discontinuance of the butter-fat tax. Member's generally agreed that this should b& supported strongly and consistently: It was resolved that the secretary write to the Taranaki members of Parliament on the matter, and also send all the information members of the Union can supply. GENERAL. The Mayor of Stratford wrote apologising for his apparent discourtesy in not formally welcoming l delegates to the conference, but added that lie had not been aware that they were meeting. The chairman considered that a great deal more publicity should bo given to the meetings.—Star.
