THE PIERROTS' £IOOO DAY.

FOR LOCAL PATRIOTIC PURPOSES. It does not seem to be generally understood that the object for which the Pierrots' £IOOO day is being held on June 30 is to provide funds for local administration by either the Patriotic Committee or the Womens' League. Un. less local funds of both societies are augmented it will bo impossible for them much longer to carry on the good work they arc doing. The Pierrots are, therefore, leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to raise funds, and the response they arc receiving on all hands gives every indication that they will achieve their goal.

Messrs J. E. Hill, R. Cock, and H. Brookman, who were appointed to canvass for cash donations, started operations yesterday. They mot with splendid success, ns will be aeon from tha attached list. We will have much pleasure in Acknowledging donations from day to day, or receiving any donations, and handing Rarae to the treasurer, Mr. H. Fowler, Government Audit Inspector, Newton King :£BO J. Mr. J. Harvey, of the Fitwoy butchery, has generously decided to close Mb shop at Fituroy on Saturday, June 30, at noon, and assist the Pierrots at their meat stall on Devon street. \
