WARSHIPS OFF FRANCE. Washington, June 7. American warships have arrived off the French coast. According to a Paris statement the American steamer Silvershell fought a submarine in the Mediterranean. The Navy Department states that the Silvershell is the vessel yesterday reported as sinking a submarine. ALLIES' FOOD NEEDS. '
Washington, June 7. President Wilson, at a conference with Senators, urged the rushing of food measures, as the Allies' needs were pressing, and legislation was necessary owing to the danger of European nations getting options on future crops. BELGIUM GRATEFUL FOR HELP. z ' Washington, June 7. Belgium will soon send a commission to the United States, under Baron Moncheur, to extend thanks.to America for assistance. The United States has loaned Belgium 75 millions, and it is likely that Belgium will ask for further assistance.
