THE RECENT RAID. THE OFFICIAL REPORT. Received June 7, 8.10 p.m. London, June 7. Official: Sixteen aeroplanes participated to-night in the raid acroßS the Essex coast. They dropped bombs in the country districts and small towns of Essex, and proceeded to attack the naval establishment on the Medway and dropped a considerable number of bombs. A certain amount of damage was done to house property, the damage to naval and military establishments being negligible. Our gunfire engaged the aircraft, which were pursued. The raiders, who lost two machines, made off seaward. The casualties' were two killed and twenty-nine wounded. THE RAID ON OSTEND. HEAVY DAMAGE.
