,'• ', ' Wellington, last Night. M tfttySSrst Wellington Military Sertrice Board to-day Mr. McVilly, assistant general manager of railways, appeared respecting tbe railwaymen drawn in the ballot. After a lengthy discussion, Mrt AlcVilly agreed to the following arrangements, as read- by Captain Walker, the Jnilitary representative: Mr. McVilly withdraws . the appeals of 108 fit men, land th6se ; appeals will be dismissed. Fourteen men who appealed personally ean proceed with their appeals, and, as far as the department is concerned, we get those whose appeals are disallowed; wo get 68 volunteers, all of whom are in the first division, and they, or their substitutes, <wiH have to go to'camp at tbe end of this month. If they are turned, \ down* or if otherwise we cannot get them, the department will supply us with men in their places. The men are to go into camp, this month without asking leave. ■ \ Adjournments sine die were made in {Hie cases, of a number of police confor whom Commissioner O'Donoiritiirappsaled. , The appeals of sevferal wireless operat- - >?rs were also adjourned sine die. FINANCIAL AID TO SOLDIERS. OPERATIONS OF TfiE BOAED. Wellington, Last Night. The Board, dealing with applications fcy soldiers or recruits for extra financial Assistance to cover items of expenditure, such as rent, interest, and insurance, premiums, while on active service, )ias received 1055 applications to. date, of which 595 have been dealt with and there are 170 in hand. Of 803 dealt with to May 31, 169 were declined or Withdrawn, 134 deferred for further information, and 610 granted! The hulk bf the applications received came from tr.en Already in the Expeditionary Force and from voluntary recruits. Some applicants; bad been ballotted men, but Very few Wthesei were ballotted men who. appealed to the Military Service Eoard on. the ground of undue hardship. REVIEW OF 26th REINFORCEMENTS. Wellington, Last Night. The 2flth infantry and engineers reinforcements, under Licut.-Colonel J. A. Cowles, were reviewed by the Governor it Trentham to-day. s*ne troops made An inspiring spectacle as they marched past the saluting base. After the review His Excellency addressed the officers of tha draft. MORE WAR DEPARTMENT^. Wellington, Last Night, fiegnlations have been gazetted which , provide for the constitution of a New Zealand Army Pay Department, a New Zealand Army Ordinance Department, Mid a; New Zealand Army Ordinance - Corps. The regular establishment of the army pay corps is to |>e two warrant officers, "six staff sergeants, and ten of other Tanks, but during the war this ■ may be exceeded to the extent specified by General Orders. The Ordinance Department and Corps will be on the lines gf the existing organisations. HONORS FOR OUR -MEN.
