In the House of Commons the Post-master-General stated that British prisoners in Germany numbered 42,831, whilst German prisoners in the United Kingdom were 58,138. FINANCIAI/ STRENGTH. Received June 6, 8.15 p.m. London, June 6. Since the war post office applications for war loan and. Exchequer bonds and ,war savings certificates have (Totalled £191,000,000. This has not affected tho savings bank deposits, which are now £186,400,000, compared with £188,000,000 in the previous year. The figures are a remarkable tribute to the financial strength of the country. THE EMPIRE'S MINERALS. Received June 6, 0 p.m. London, June <J. The War Cabinet has appointed a committee to prepare a scheme for establishing an Imperial Mineral Resources Bureau to collect information regarding the Empire's mineral resources and metal requirements, and advise upon methods of development. The committee includes ■ Lord Islington, Sir Thomas Mackenzie, Sir W. S. Robinson and Sir Wm. Sehreiner (South Africa), and Sir G. H. Perley (Canada). ■ —?
