An American liner which has arrived reports that it collided with a British auxiliary cruiser near a British port ripping away the liner's lifeboats and the staunchions of the upper works, and necessitating her returning to port for repairs. IN NEW CALEDONIA. Sydney, June 4. Advices from New Caledonia state that the native revolt continues. A steamer surprised the natives, securing a number of prisoners. A' cablegram received from San Francisco repprts a merger of several British shipping, companies, including the Cunard, 'P. and 0., Commonwealth, Dominion, Allan, the Union Company of New Zealand, and the British-India, with a total valuation of two billion dollars, headed by Lord Inchcape.
