THE STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE. A VETERAN'S WARNING. Paris, .Time 3. _ Mr. H. M. Hyndman, the veteran socialist, in an interview with the Journal, said that if they attended the Stockholm Conference they would deal a mortal blow to Socialism. It was impossible to forget that the German Socialists were mere servants of their Government. They did not want the triumph of Socialism, but the triumph of Germany. The Allies' decision to send delegates was the first victory Germany had won. Times' Service. London, June 3. The British Labor Executive authorises a statement that the British Labor Group lias not reversed its decision not to enter an international conference of the- kind proposed by the Dutch and Scandinavian committee, but it is willing to state its war aims to allied and neutral Socialists at tho conference at Stockholm, where their visit will be a mere incident in an important mission to the Russian Laborites. The Socialists' Executive keenly resents the insinuation that its representatives at Stockholm are likely to do 01 say anything to compromise the British cause. REFUSAL OF FRENCH PASSPORTS.
GERMAN PRESS ANGRY. REVOLT AGATNST GOVERNMENT URGED. Received June 4, 7.30 ,p,m. Amsterdam, June 3. German newspapers angrily denounce France's refusal of passports to French Socialists to attend the Stockholm Conference. The Cologne Gazette says the Government is afraid to let the delegates go. Other newspapers invite the French people to revolt against the autocratic Paris Cabinet, which is treating them like school children. A CATHOLIC MOVE. Paris, June 3. Archbishop Baudrillard, President of the French Catholic iPropoganda, in an article in La Croix, the Catholic organ, states that German Catholics recently attempted to induce their French coreligionists to join in a peace movement. Herr Erzberger, leader of the German Centre Party, attended a meeting of Swiss Catholics on May 18. Tliey promised support and agreed to sound the leading French Catholics and Bishops. Herr Erzberger told his intimate friends that the real reason of liis Swiss mission was that Germany was exhausted, and must have peace very soon. Tho French Catholics refused the overtures, saying that no party was entitled to substitute itself for the Government in the decision of such problems.
