On Saturday, at the New Plymouth links, the first round of the Standish Cup (Saturday section) was played, and the following are the results:— Austin beat Connell by default; Johns beat Paton by default; Weston beat Smith by default; Newenham beat Douglas, 3 up and 2. In the second round, which is to be finished by Saturday next, the following players meet:— Austin plays Johns; Weston plays Newenham; Lawrey plays Corrigan; Bloxam, plays McQuade. To-day the following team from the New Plymouth club journeys to Inglewood, where it is anticipated an enjoy-, able match will be played:— Johns, Nicoli, Newenham, Corrigan, Hutchen, Wood, Bloxam, Wyllie, KebWe, Mcßeth, Austin' Honan, Webster and Smythe.
