FOR MAY, 1917. following is tho weather report for last month, taken at Pukekura Park meteorological station, altitude l«0ft. (Mr. W. W. Smith observer): — Unsettled and cloudy weather was recorded till the 10th, since which date strong to gale winds prevailed more or less till the 31st. Thunderstorms occurred on the 20th, 27th, and 20th. Snow fell on Jit. Egmonb on the. loth, 20th, 21stj 23rd, 26th, 27th (heavy), and 28th. Gales were recorded on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 25th, -20 th, 27th, 20th, 30th, and 31st. Heavy rains were noted on the 4th and 7th. Rain fell on day*—2 points on 20th, 90 points on the 7th. Total, 6.051 in. Maximum temperature, 71deg. on 10th, 57deg. on 25th. I Minimum temperature, 55deg. on !)th, 42deg. on 29th and 30th. Maximum wet bulb, (KMeg. on 4tli, sth, 7th, Bth, 14th, 82dcg. qn 26th. Minimum wet hull* 53deg. on 9th, >l2 deg. on 30th. Solar radiator (sun's heat), Modeg. on Ist, 125deg: On 2flth. Terrestrial radiator, 45deg. on Sl!i, 37 deg. on 13th. Sunshine recorder 9hr. 30min. on Ist and 11th, 3min. on Oth. Total, 147 hr. 3®min. The wind blew from the north on 1 day, north-east 3, north-west 3, south 0, south-eaßt !), south-west 6, west 1. The sth was a calm day. ■A fine ruddy sunset, which portends stormy weather, occurred on the 22nd. A fine display of fracto-cumulus was noted on the 21st. Vivid lightning during the night was also noted on the 23rd and 25th. Visibility was rather prominent on the l«th and 23th.
