DOMINION WINTER SHOW.
BRITISH TRADERS' EXHIBITION. A special effort this year will be' made to interest and to Educate the children j of all the schools from Wanganul to New 'Plymouth. The features of the show this year will be such as to prove J of distinctly educative value, and to develop also in the young children ideas of Empire, what it stands for, and what it produces. An effort iB being made to " have special trains run for tho children. , To further interest and attract them, the public school division has been increased and widened in scope. Good prif.es ' are given in all classes. In addition, for best coclleetion of farm roots from ' a school district, therfi will be specials • of 21s and 10s fid, with framed fliploma. There are prizes for collection of vege- 1 tallies, of kumaras, pumpkins and po- 1 tatoes (grown by a Maori), for school srarden notebook, collections of noxious i weeds, of moths and butterflies. In the literary classes prizes are given 1 for an essay on "Conscription in New 1 Zealand," on "Our District," maps of { Mow Zealand and penmanshjp. Iri the art r,ec(' n n there will be a competition on model drawing, floral, conventional ' design and drawing of insert, bird, quad- ( , or pther animal. It will thus be J 6cen that there is a .wide field for the schools. It is hoped l, that all teachers ] and pupils will take a keen interest and make this section especially good this year, and worthy of the distriat. Their i work may be fitly considered part of the special Empire exhibition being j made.
