Official.—During the week ending Meiv 27 arrivals numbered 1048, sailings 1042, sinkings over 1000 tons 2, under 1000 tons 1, unsuccessfully, attacked 5. No fishing vessels were sunk. TORPEDOED VICTIMS. TERRIBLE SUFERINGS & DEATHS. London, May 31. Before the Ahiwick Castle was torpedoed on March 19 she picked up the crew of the torpedoed steamer Trevos, whose sufferings for nine days in* the bitter cold were narrated in the engin- , eer's diary. On the third day, sayp the diary, the chief cook died of evposure and the storekeeper went mad. On the fourth day the boatswain and a passengor died; on the fifth, three more died; on •the sixth, a cattleman jumped overboard and was drowned; on the seventh, two died of thirst and exposure; on the ninth another died. 1 The survivors, when landed, were suffering terribly from frostbite and their feet and toes were dropping off. One succumbed. A baby was saved by the sacrifices of others, but subsequently died of meningitis.
