WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.

, MONTHLY MEETING. The council met on Monday. Present: Crs. W. A. McCuteheon (chairman), M. O'Neill, K. K. Cleland, N. McLeod, T. R. Mounsay, A Coyne and Ml Geever.

It -was decided that tho county cl'.Tk should interview the Minister or cn-gincr-in-chief of the Public Works Eopavtment at Wellington re obtaining permission to use totara throughout in the Putikituma road subsidised bridges. Rome comment was made on settlers and others leaving dead stock on the roads. Eventually a motion by Crs. McCutoheon and O'Xeiil was carried: "That all foremen be instructed to endeavor to discover the ownership of stock dying on tho county roads, and also to bury such stock, and| owners of same to be charged a fee of 10s each animal "

A sum of £SO is to be taken from the Putikituma road settlers' thirds towards repairing the Kohuratahi roads. Mr. P. Long complained of stock tfcipasing in the streets of Whangamomona, etc. A motion was carried: "That surfacemen are too busy, and that ov>ry settler has tho right to impound stosk causing trouble" An amendment: "That a ranger be appointed" was lost, only Crs. McLeod and Cleland voting in favor. A complaint by Mr. Long of the poor street lighting was received, the clerk bating that lamps had been ordered some time ago, but had not yet come to hand. F. Perrcau resigned.his position as aurraceman, which was iccepted with, regret, and he is to receive a reference. Applications are to be called for position of surfaceman at Makahu end of Strathmore Riding, a married man to be secure '. if possible, if not, single man ineligible for active service.

Messrs Michael Geever and Louis TCieo were appointed to fill vacancies on the Whangamomona Cemetery Board, vice Messrs Court and Bridley resigned. Cr. Cleland was instructed to wait on the Land Board re allocation of pound reserve at Tahora.

Accounts totalling £431 3s Id were passed for payment, and the meeting rose.
