THE CHILDREN'S MISSION.
A great crowd of boys and girls and a good company of adult* gathered at Whiteley Hall last night, when the children's mission, conducted by the P.ev, E. Pulgrave Davy, was the draw. About 4,00 boys and girls listened to the riddles and to the giving of the answers. From a quarter to seven till seven o'clock Mr. Davy gets the children singing, and at seven o'clock the riddles which the youngsters have thought out during the day and written down are collected. A few prayers are said, one for the soldiers, one for peace, and one for the meeting. Then Mr. Davy starts his serial story. It is the story of Pilgrim, represented as a lad instead of a man and brought up to date in 20th century language. Mr. Davy has the happy knack of making the'meeting attractive. Tie is full oMmrnor and his jokes cause ripples of amusement, and yet in a moment he has them quietened and listening with intense interest to the story told them. It is during the telling of the story that he gets his truths driven home. The lessons learned and the truths taught will undoubtedly beir their own wholesome fruit in the lives of our boys and girls. The mission will continue each evening until Friday.
