' THE PUBLIC WORKS FARCE. By Telegraph.—rPress Association. Chi'istchurch, Mav 28. Mr. Fmer, Minister of Public Works, states that the Government is continuing the public works it took in hand during the last financial year.. On March 31 he lhad in hand over £IBO,OOO for roads and bridges. That sum is unallotted and 1 will be available this year. He intends to ask the Government to continue the present policy without imposing further restrictions on public undertakings. Mr. I'raser says he is adhering to tiie principle he adopted some time ago that local bodies should reduce their demands as much as possible.
