THE EMPIRE.
"THE DUMB GENIUS." No man or woman, not even Douglas Fairbanks, or Pearl White, could do the stunts or take the risks (which a new picture actor puts' up, Naturally, that player is not human. Ho is Ja'ko, the ape who created such a furore in "The Circus of Death" and ho is starred in a remarkable picture "The Dumb Genius" commencing a two nights' season at the Empire to-night. One wonderful scene shows Jako at the top of a tower fighting off the pursuers, who attempt to secure the jewels contained in the collar round his neck. Tho building is 150 feet high, and men and monkey hang suspended in mid-air for a few dizzy seconds before the animal takes a sensational leap to safety. MATINEE TO-MORROW. At 'the matinee to-morrow Charlie Chaplin will appear in his latest star comedy "The Pawnbroker." The matinee programme will also include the big feature "The Dumb Genius."
