THE EMPIRE.
50 MILLION MICROBE ACTORS. The unscrupulous quacks who have long been the bane of the medical profession are shown up in all their amazing ajid amusing rascality in "The Microscopic Mystery,'' screening to-nighfc at the Empire. The stars are Wilfred Lucas and Constance Talmadge, the latter making her first appearance as a leading lady, and proving herself dainty and capable. The story is a particularly fine one, the first portion being satirical comedy, which is interrupted by a tragic murder. The microscope enters prpminontly into the plot, and there are shown some extraordinary peeps at minute living germs and insects. The ending is, of course,, a happy one, and the love story is sweet and delightful. Billie Burke in "The Gathering Storm," the latest instalment of '"Gloria's Romance," also occupies a prominent part in the programme.
