I understand that a charge will be laid by the police against a Waipuku youth for tampering with the railway. The first meeting of the new Borough Council will be held to-night. Some interest is being taken in the notices of motion by the Mayor (Mr. ,T. W. McMillan), rescinding the minimum charge, and also as to the proposed centre poles for lighting Broadway. "Pricking the card," it looks almost certain that the minimum charge will 'bo further reduced or blotted out, but theiv is no degree of certainty regarding the Broadway lights.

Later on, when they tire of audiences or the audiences of 'them the theatrical folk may develop into butter-makers or milkers. At present they are filling in time, and with the present weather prevailing the task is not an enviable one.
